Admission Criteria

Dear Student, candidates between 14 and 40 years of age as of the start date of the admission session are eligible to apply for our ITI technical trades.

Age Relaxation

Candidates aged 14–40 years as of the start of the admission session are eligible for ITI. Age relaxations apply as follows:

  • Ex-Servicemen: Upper age limit relaxed up to 45 years by state governments/union territory administrations.
  • War Widows: Upper age limit permissible up to 45 years.
  • Widows/Separated Women: Allowed to join various training programs under TRADE up to 35 years of age.
  • Physically Handicapped: Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years (kept at 35 years) on the date of admission session start.

Qualification

The academic qualification prescribed for trades varies from Class VIII pass to Class XII pass depending upon the specific trade, as detailed in the CTS trade list.

Reservation of Seats

Specific upper age limits and category relaxations apply for admissions:

  • Ex-Servicemen: Upper age limit relaxed up to 45 years by state governments/union territory administrations.
  • War Widows: Upper age limit permissible up to 45 years.
  • Widows / Separated Women: Allowed to join training programs under C.T.S. up to 35 years of age.
  • Physically Handicapped: Upper age limit relaxed by 10 years (kept at 35 years) as of the admission session start date.

Selection Timeline

Admissions start well in advance of the session commencement. If extended for vacant seats, extensions cannot exceed 1 month for two-year trades and 15 days for one-year trades.

Selection of the Candidate

Admissions are made purely on merit based on marks secured in public examinations of the minimum required qualification. Where public exams do not exist, a first-come, first-serve process applies.

Prospectus / Proforma for Admission

Admission proformas can be obtained from the respective State Directorate dealing with the Craftsmen Training Scheme or from the Principals of the concerned ITI centers.
